Nonprofit boards have a very important role as the governing body of the Non-Profit.
Their ultimate responsibility is to ensure the nonprofit is run ethically and legally according to the standard defined by the Federal, State and Local ruling bodies.
Being a board member requires you to help define the nonprofit’s mission, govern and set standards for its overall leadership, determine how it meets its goals, ensure that the nonprofit has enough resources to accomplish its mission and more. The board is ultimately responsible for the accuracy of reporting and carrying out the deliverables as set by the organizations budgets and program plans.
This is a very integral component of the executive order in the non-profit and should not be taken lightly. The full participation of an active and qualified board will help to ensure the organization is in compliance and that the organization is prepared for ongoing concerns.
